This book tells the true story of the author, assumed name Elizabeth Scott, who was deserted by her father, but cherished by her mother and grandfather. What began as a peaceful childhood was soon replaced by a dark, mentally tormenting experience with a verbally abusive and violent stepfather. As Elizabeth grew older, she suffered several episodes of sexual abuse, but these events paled in comparison to the avalanche of constant verbal assaults by her stepfather. Over the years, statements of condemnation took their toll, causing her self-esteem to plummet. A failed marriage and several traumatic events caused Elizabeth’s already fragile mind to shatter, bringing about her descension into a pit, the pit of schizophrenia.
Elizabeth became a Christian in the midst of all her troubles with her stepfather. After her mental illness developed, she became disappointed in God, not understanding why He had allowed her to experience insanity. During her battle with schizophrenia, Elizabeth prayed for a cure, something or someone to offer her healing. Her prayers were answered a few months later. Now, 49 years later, her healing has continued and her faith has been restored. Since then she has lived her life with a sound mind. Elizabeth now tells her story with the hope of helping others. This is Elizabeth’s story of triumph over insanity.
