The first poem entitled "Sion Hill" is a small village on the island of St. Vincent West Indies where I grew up from age four until age 22. The poem focus' ones mind on, childhood, love, lost, regret, history and tightly woven moments when immigrants leave their native land.

Janet Stewart born June 1st, 1944 on the Dutch Caribbean island of Aruba. Her beloved grandmother a direct descendant the Caribs. When she was a small child the family moved to her fathers’ island of St. Vincent West Indies It would be he home until 1965, when Janet immigrated to the United States. And perhaps like all immigrants, she held on to her longing for St. Vincent and continue to do so. 

Her poetry directly speaks of this longing all while navigating love, lost, family, unabated joy, and spirituality.

The first book entitled “I Hate Blue” released in 2013.Four years later she released second book entitled “Breadfruit.” In these new poems she delves deeper into everyday routines and imagery.
