THEME: It is written, "You shall be holy for I am holy..." 1 Peter 1:5, 16 NASB
In 3 sections of 2 chapters each, this volume focuses on the biblical pattern of spiritual formation, what it is, where it fits best, and how it has been shredded!
Section 1, Chapter 1: The Holy God is the Perfect Pattern of Spiritual Formation. Chapter 2, a holy life is God's standard for His children.
Section 2: Chapter 3: God designed his pattern for the human Personality. Ch. 4 explains why humans behave as we do.
Section 3: Chapter 5 centers on the fall of mankind, coins a biblical definition of sin and clarifies that sin is both a perversion of the inner disposition. Bad behaviors are the result. Ch. 6 defines total depravity and explains how it affects every feature of the human personality. Sin tears the beautiful pattern all to pieces.
Section 1 shows that God’s holy nature is the perfect pattern of spiritual formation. Section 2 shows it fits the human personality perfectly. Section 3 shows why the pattern is needed.

Personal
Who is this guy, Dr. Fred? You have a right to know. My D0B was November 2, 1926. That’s before two major social/economic ills, the 1929 Stock Market crash and the “Dirty Thirties” dust bowl era. Our Oklahoma farm family survived both. I am youngest of three children, now the only living family patriarch. At eleven, the Lord saved me. In my teens, He called me to preach. The fall of 1946, I enrolled in Friends Bible College , now Barclay College. I met and married Esther May Ross. Five children blessed our home.
