Light for the Way; A Guide to Pastoral Counseling by author Kathy Ann Camarillo, D.Min. is a Christian counseling guide written to help churches build a strong pastoral counseling ministry. Dr. Camarillo begins by defining the characteristics of pastoral counselors; they are Christian leaders whose hearts are fully surrendered to God and are committed to obedience to God
A series of traumatic events left Kathy feeling
devastated, lost and alone. Alienated from friends,
family and God, she sought comfort and healing in
ways that did not work. One day a friend invited
her to church. She read in Hebrews 11:1, “faith was
the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of
things not seen.” Claiming the promise, Kathy began
a journey that transformed her life. As she grew in
the knowledge of God’s Word, and surrendered her
life to Christ, true hope and healing replaced
confusion and despair.
Kathy completed a Masters in Theology and a
Doctorate in Ministry, served as Minister of Counseling
for a mega-church where she taught thousands of
individuals the fundamentals of pastoral counseling,
discipled hundreds of lay counselors, and counseled
individuals and couples.
