Sarita was relatively healthy until about halfway through college, when she started experiencing worrying symptoms. Later, after marrying and beginning her career as a math teacher, she received a disappointing medical diagnosis. Sarita had Lupus, an autoimmune disease which is caused by the immune system attacking the tissue of its own body. Her medical issues would play a big role in her life, affecting many areas such as her work, her marriage, and her family. Facing issues such as multiple diseases, divorce, and more is hard for anyone. But, by staying close to loved ones, finding happiness where she could, and clinging to the Lord, Sarita has been able to overcome her hard times. Sarita Brooks was married to Bobby Jones in 1989. They were blessed with two healthy boys. They divorced after about thirty years. Sarita would eventually be reunited to her childhood sweetheart Kevin Baker. Sarita & Kevin now joyfully co-parent their three sons.
Sarita has a Bachelor’s Degree from UNF. She taught mathematics in a local high school for seven years. Her desire was to continue teaching much longer, but with her repeated hospitalizations came some tough decisions. Sarita is retired and enjoys cooking, traveling, and writing. She attends Forward Christian Center and serves on the environmental team when her health permits. Her ultimate desire is to form a non-profit which facilitates spreading information about healthy living particularly for individuals affected by lupus.
