Born in 1937, John M. Rood (known as Jack by family and friends) grew up in a farming
community in central Michigan. He attended a one-room country school, was graduated
with honors from high school, completed the Christian Education course at Moody Bible
Institute in Chicago in 1958, married Betty Lou Vonk that same year, and started a
family.
His life experiences include twenty-nine years in full-time Christian ministry as a
children’s worker and mission executive, and eleven years as the general manager of a
specialty advertising company. He has also led one short term mission trip to the
Philippines, and two mission trips to Cambodia.
He is currently active in the Immanuel Bible Church in Sheboygan, WI, where they
reside.
