Sick Kids and Those Who Love Them contain true stories that expose the hidden turmoil, as well as joyous moments, experienced when parents seek God's assurance in the midst of their children's suffering.
The author, Karen Rhea, cared for her own son, Billy, throughout a six-year nightmare of unanswered questions with no diagnosis in sight. After extensive medical testing proved he was normal, his symptoms were deemed psychological. Her tireless search to find help for her son baffled and irritated a questioning community. Feeling at war with his doctors and educators, she believed they were all wrong. As Billy's health deteriorated, Karen's marriage to her husband, Jim, began to unravel. Yet the Rheas never wavered from their one united front: faith and prayer.
The stories contained in these pages expose the varied seasons of helplessness and hope, anger and forgiveness, and reconciliation through redemption.
