This daily devotional contains a different promise of God for each day of the year, with a special promise for each holiday that is not date specific (373 daily readings). The promise is followed by an illustration (most from the life of the author) and an explanation/ discussion of the promise. Each day's devotional reading closes with a verse of an old hymn. All Scripture is taken from the NIV translation, with both the biblical reference and the Scripture written out in full each time a reference is made to a biblical passage in the daily reading. This prevents the distraction of looking up Bible passages during the daily reading.

Clarence Warner was born on a farm in the Texas panhandle in 1938. At the age of six he moved with his Quaker family to Medicine Lodge, Kansas, for two years and then to a northern Kansas farm. His years on the farm made a lasting impact on his life, and he learned many lessons during the hours of working with his dad. Clarence gave his life to the Lord at an early age.
He graduated from Emporia State University in Kansas and received a master's degree in chemistry from Oklahoma State University. He has been a chemistry professor at Phillips University, Oklahoma Republican state chairman, regional coordinator for Ronald Reagan (1976), political and fundraising consultant, and State Farm insurance agent. Clarence retired as a colonel after thirty years as a member of the National Guard. He and his wife, Jan, live in Norman, Oklahoma, where they are active members of CrossPointe Church.
