To be accepted by the world, many of today’s church leaders have lowered the God-established standards of reverence, righteousness, and respect and have replaced them with values that require less commitment and personal sacrifice on the part of their attenders. By doing so, they have allowed the banner of the cross to fall in dishonor, and the greatest disgrace is that there is no great cry among God’s people to raise that standard up again. Based upon the apostle Paul’s challenge in 1 Corinthians 15:34, Raising the Standard is one pastor’s plea for a revival among God’s people, a removal of worldly concepts about what it means to be a Christian, and a return to righteousness in the church. It is a critical analysis of the contemporary church movement and its impact upon the church regarding our worship of God, our witness to the world, and our respect for God’s Word.
