“Walking in the Fire, a Love Story,” is a story about a small-town couple, Denny and Susan, who fell in love and lived life together for over fifty years. It is a story about good times, bad times, and ordinary days that will sometimes seem idyllic. Their life together begins in the early sixties and continues into today. It marks the growth of a dedicated love between a man and a woman as they deal with the life they live. It is also a love story of the relationship between Susan, who came to know the Savior at the tender age of twelve and of the Savior who cared for her, encouraged her, carried her, and loved her through a lifetime of living. The relationship particularly grew in strength during life’s “trials of fire!” It reminds one of the accounts in the scripture where Meshach, Shadrach, and Abednego walked among the enveloping flames, yet, while the Lord walked with them they were not consumed! It is a love story about the Lord who loved her unconditionally and promised to see her through, no matter how high the flames, seeking to gain her trust as He met her every need.
I been writing since I was just a young girl. I have submitted stories to writing contests in the local, home publications. I have won a few contests, but the thrill of writing was enough to keep me going. I have a degree in nursing but spent most of my life owning and running my own antique, gift and décor stores. I have served in the administration of local women clubs in all positions while becoming a speaker in that arena. I continue to teach Bible studies as opportunities arise. I also have led several weekend retreats on women in the Bible. I am the mother of four children and eleven grandchildren. I was married to my high school sweetheart for fifty years. We raised our family while basically living on prison properties as my husband was the warden of Pennsylvania state prisons. We both grew up in Big Valley located in the Kishacoquillas Valley in central Pennsylvania. A beautiful place to live. Currently, I also reside in Mechanicsburg, PA.
