Although Cindy is a retired pharmacist, she has been training dogs her entire life. At age ten, on her own, she taught her black Labrador Retriever to come, sit, down, stay, and heel, and she showed him in Junior Showmanship at dog shows with several placements.
As an adult, her first two dogs were Shetland Sheepdogs (Shelties). Her second Sheltie, Forest, was her first agility dog. She put numerous obedience and agility titles on him and they competed at the national level in agility. Cindy assisted and later taught obedience classes for a local dog club.
In 2002, her husband Jim and she launched their own dog training business and boarding kennel. She has put numerous obedience, rally, and agility titles on two Belgian Tervuren and two more Shelties.
Working with the public as a dog trainer, Cindy has worked with all types of dogs from Great Danes to Weimaraners, to small dogs such as Dachsunds.
