Publishing an anthology of poetry has been a dream fulfilled for the author of Promises on Velvet Wings. Many of her poems are about her faith in Jesus. The love of the Lord has been the strength and foundation of her life.
Regina (Souders) McAfee grew up in the Johnson Community, a rural area on the outskirts of Shawnee, Oklahoma. It was there she began her faith-walk with Jesus when she was a very little girl. She was blessed with loving parents, two brothers, a sister, and a large extended family.
She and her husband, William, have nine children and eleven grandchildren. They attend the Johnson Church of God where they were married 56 years ago. Regina retired from North Rock Creek School, where she taught fourth grade for 32 years. She now teaches part time at Earlsboro, where she graduated high school many years ago.
Regina loves people and has been able to share her love for Jesus in many ways
including being a youth camp counselor, Sunday School teacher, and going on a mission trip to the Dominican Republic. She loves to talk and has been blessed to share her love of life and love for the Lord at ladies’ church meetings.
It is her prayer that these poems of faith, family, friends, and fun will bring joy to the readers. God reminds us in many ways of His love for us. Always cling tightly to His promises—promises sometimes delivered on velvet wings.
