My life was under the influence of darkness, by the age of 24, l had already had 3 car accident, broken my arm and on my way to the grave. I was overweight, struggling with self-esteem and struggling with alcohol. If it was not for the prayers of my grandmother and mother l do not know if l would still be around. In this book l talk about my journey from darkness to light. My passion is that through my story you can be encouraged to rise above the challenges you face. I wish l can tell you it is easy or it was easy but that would be a lie. What l can tell you though is that light is more powerful than darkness and has a desire that you choose it. I did not journey from darkness to light through my own will power or strength, there were people such as my grandmother, mother and wife who helped me to be where l am. You also can be the light bearer to those in darkness.
My name is Nkosilomusa, which means God is gracious. This is the name that my grandfather gave me when I was born. My grandfather had lost his only son the year before I was born, and instead of allowing grief and sorrow to consume him, he named me as praise to God. You will think with such an excellent name, I was a Saint, but far from it. I was exposed to sex before my primary education; my teenage years were full of rebellion. I started drinking alcohol, smoking glue, and soon graduated to marijuana in my adolescent years. I was nearly expelled from secondary school because of alcohol. Alcohol was my escape from the trauma of losing my grandfather at a very young age. My life was under the heavy influence of darkness, and by the age of 24, I had already had two drunk drive accidents, broken my arm, and was on my way to the grave. If it were not for the prayers of my grandmother and mother, I know for sure that I would not be alive. Darkness is absolute, so is light, and our adventure is to journey from darkness to light. It is an adventure of a lifetime. In this adventure, I ask questions, I answer questions, I question religion, I question what we believe, and finally, I arrive at my destination only to find myself lost again through deception. I then have to ask questions again to get out of deceit and back to the truth; it is a fantastic journey, a roller coaster ride. There are heroes and villains, but the journey is worth it.
