In law enforcement, individuals are often promoted to supervisory positions before receiving training to serve in those positions effectively. This has ended in catastrophic failure or the proverbial sink-or-swim situation for many first-line supervisors. These first-line leadership failures can have a high price tag for law enforcement agencies.
Readers of The MASCOT LEADER will find foundational success principles in their agency’s mission, values, policies, and procedures, such as their Field Training Manuals. Using the MASCOT mnemonic, the reader will embark on visible and memorable perspectives of these usable principles.
The MASCOT Leadership model is a valuable resource for officers seeking to become first-line supervisors or those already in the role but needing to heighten their leadership acumen. Moreover, there is a theme throughout the book stressing the officers’ need to recognize that they are direct representatives, like a MASCOT, of their organization when in uniform.
