“If It’s Sunday” has three sections: FAMILY, FAITH, FUN. A story by a neighbor recalls a movie cost fifteen cents, candy and popcorn for a nickel. I recall toasted ravioli “on the hill” in St. Louis, an uncle who never missed “Meet the Press” on Sunday, and my father, a white man who could dance.
Greatest in the kingdom of heaven? See Matthew 18: 1-4. Buddhists, Islamists, and Jews in Sunday School? Three teens riding one horse to confirmation class on Saturday mornings. Are you as encouraged as I am with the many commercials on TV about Jesus and prayer life?
The FUN section? Deer stands, morel mushroom hunts, farm pond fishing, church picnics and potluck dinners, and church attendance on your report card.
John 12: Some Greeks came to worship during Passover and said to Philip, “We wish to see Jesus.” Philip told Andrew and they told Jesus. I hope that you “see” Jesus in my book. No mystical vision needed! Just focus on the cross. That’s what Jesus told the Greeks. See the rest of Chapter 12. Enjoy some family, faith, and fun. Merry Christmas! Happy Easter!
“When you wish upon a star, your dreams come true,” Disney TV in the ‘50s. The closest star to earth is our sun. Proxima Centauri is 4.24 light years away. Alpha Centauri even farther! Sirius? 8.8, Polaris, the North Star; 400 light years?
The photo is a younger version of me with one of my dozen grandkids, Kailyn, circa 2006, at EPCOT. God has blessed Barbara and me with a wonderful family. Our dreams come true daily. Find a star tonight. Make a wish, Dream!
