A fatherless boy with no chief caretakers led to a life of trust issues and a false perspective that life was something to be ‘figured out on my own’. After many mistakes, flirting with death and about to give up, the Lord who kept a steady, and sometimes mighty hand on me, I was called by Lord Jesus into ministry. The Father taught me to repent simply by saying, “you owe 90 days”. The Holy Spirit was a light unto my feet, confirming the truth of life; even now.
Steve Allgoewer is a third-generation American from Oakland, California, with a mixed heritage of white, brown, and black. Although race was not a topic of discussion in his household, Oakland’s societal divisions made it evident. From a young age, Steve discovered his athletic talents through interactions with other kids. Through his youth Steve excelled at basketball, But, also enjoyed other organized sports like baseball and football. As he grew older, he developed an interest in boxing, both learning and coaching the sport. Boxing has been particularly beneficial in managing his disabilities, as he is a Disabled Veteran with back and neck injuries. Basketball scholarships provided Steve with the opportunity to live in the Southwest and also travel to places like Manila, Germany, and parts of the East Coast. During these travels, people often appreciated his way of expressing himself and encouraged him to write a book. While he finds face-to-face conversations more appealing, as they allow him to gauge understanding, writing has become a way for him to share his experiences and insights.
